NCET-ITEP 2026 by NTA for 4 Yr Integ Teacher Education Programs
NTA (National Testing Agency) has started accepting applications for admissions in niche 4-Year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) in selected Central / State University / Institutions including IITs, NITs, RIEs, and Government Colleges.
The admission is granted on the basis of merit obtained in National Common Entrance Test (NCET) which is scheduled to be conducted on 17 Apr 2026.
The application deadline is 10 Mar 2026.
Course(s) covered by NCET: BA-BEd, BSc-BEd, BCom-BEd (4 Year Integrated programmes)
About the 4 Year Integrated Teacher Education Programme
The 4-year integrated B.Ed. will be a dual-major holistic bachelor’s degree, in Education as well as a specialized subject (such as language, history, music, mathematics, computer science, chemistry, economics, art, physical-education, etc.).
Beyond the teaching of cutting-edge pedagogy, the teacher education will include a grounding in sociology, history, science, psychology, early childhood care, and education, foundational literacy and numeracy, knowledge of India and its values / ethos / art / traditions, and more. [NEP 2020: 15.5]
Stage Specialization (5+3+3+4): Each student will specialize in one of the following school stages which will qualify them to become teachers of that Stage:
i) Foundational Stage Specialization (for teaching Pre-School to Grade 2)
ii) Preparatory Stage Specialization (for teaching Grades 3 to Grade 5)
iii) Middle Stage Specialization (for teaching Grades 6 to Grade 8)
iv) Secondary Stage Specialization (for teaching Grades 9 to Grade 12)
List of Universities/Institutions: There are 223 participating Universities / Institutes (including IITs, NITs, RIEs), offering approx. 16,950 seats.
Counseling: Candidates who will be appearing in NCET will participate in the Counselling / admission process of any Central / State University / Institution (IITs, NITs, RIEs, and Govt. Colleges) which have been granted recognition by NCTE for ITEP for the academic session 2026-27. University/ Institution / Govt. College may fill up the vacant seats thereafter from the pool of NCET qualified candidates.
